The Digital Accordina is a compact solo electronic wind instrument inspired by the traditional accordina — a button-based alternative to the melodica.
This project began in 2017 with a goal of creating a highly portable, expressive, and self-contained solo instrument for electronic performance.
Unlike a traditional accordina, this version is entirely digital. It features adjustable breath sensitivity, a wide range of internal effects, and connectivity options typical of modern MIDI controllers.
I performed on this instrument as a bass player in an orchestra for two years. It has proven its reliability and musical versatility both in solo practice and ensemble contexts.
Features
- Compact and lightweight: fits in a small bag.
- Breath controller with adjustable sensitivity and customizable response curve.
- USB MIDI class-compliant plug-and-play device.
- Standard MIDI DIN 5 output.
- Integrated effects: reverb, delay, and more.
- Ideal for solo performance, electronic setups, or as a controller for software instruments.
This instrument laid the foundation for what later evolved into the Digital Flex Accordion.
